8th Annual Mt. Shasta Snow Trip
Lake County, California No entry fees, no speed limits, no stupid rules. Just come prepared to drive some amazing back roads through AMAZING countryside with dozens of cool people who'll soon become your friends. Multiple motels are walking distance away from the houses the majority are staying in. New drivers: The schedule is: Arrive Thursday night at the bridge on Bartlett Springs Road. Driver's meeting at 10PM Thursday night at which time maps with THE routes and information will be passed out. Sleep until 4:00AM Friday morning, followed by the Le Mans Start at 4:30AM. Drive like you stole it! Arrive at Shasta, kick it at the houses or motels, fish, snowboard, ski, hike, shop, party, drive RR service roads with chains on, and relax. Sunday is departure day, and while most of us will head straight back up into the hills for some of the most amazing driving on the trip for the drive back south, drivers will depart the event as need be, but don't overlook the fact that the trip CONTINUES with more wild roads all the way back to the Bay Area... that's if you have time... I DO! Keep turning those wrenches, reserecting that rancid, forgotten heap, and Roll it! Post your progress! Bugs and Buses Invade the Village 5
at the Historic Kern County Museum, in Bakersfield, California Kern County Park & Museum at 3801 Chester Ave, Bakersfield, California 93308. The Kern County Museum is a 17 acre park with turn of the 20th century historic buildings surrounded by meandering tree lined streets and large grassy lawns. The event will be held SATURDAY, MARCH 29 2008 8AM - 3PM rain or shine. 28 classes of awards. New this year "Pass the Buck" Challenge awards. VW car club with most registered entries at show a $250 cash award. Admission costs $20 per VW car entry including up to 4 people in car, each additional person above 4 costs $5 each. 8X20 swap space costs $40 includes admission of 2 people, additional people in vehicle $5 each. Car with trailer counts as two spaces. Advanced reservation for 10X20 vendor space on the main show lawn $125 advanced or $150 the day of the show and includes admission of 4 people. Sorry food vending spaces are sold out. Sponsorships are available, email for details. VW Bugs and Buses Invade the Village 5 is open to all VW air and water cooled, stock or custom, rare or unique or even your daily driver. There will be food booths at the show with breakfast items, snacks, and hot dogs to tri tip sandwiches for lunch. California Speedway Fontana, Ca THE BUG-IN Returns to Southern California Last summer was the first European Bug-In. There has also been the Northwest Bug-In, the Texas bug-In, the Phoenix Bug-In and the Colorado Bug-In, to name a few. There have been Bug-Ins in Hawaii, Australia and Japan . . . but there is only one that is simply known as THE BUG-IN! It is the Southern California phenomena that started it all. The original Bug-In was held 31 times at the legendary Orange County International Raceway from the time it opened in 1968 until its closure in 1983. In 2005 the event was resurrected at the California Speedway in Fontana, California. The CB Performance Bug-In 32 was held that May to a capacity crowd. The participation was phenomenal ˆ over 600 cars in the car show and over 200 racers in the drag racing program ˆ spectators came from all over the world. Over the last three years, the drag strip was moved from one side of the famous California Speedway oval track to the other. It has taken a while to get the facility up to speed and there were some scheduling problems but now a date has been agreed on, Sunday April 6th. 2008. That will be the date of BUG-IN 33 at the California Speedway Drag Strip in Fontana, CA, Mark your calendars!
